Job Description

Older Adult Associate – (SEIU union position) Pay Grade H $25.9678. Hours: Full-Time, Minimum of 7.5 hours per day. Must be able to work flexible and/or additional hours as mandated by library operational needs. Location: MAIN Campus. EXTERNAL POSTING OPEN UNTIL FILLED. Job Summary: The OPS Associate – Seniors is responsible for planning and executing outreach events, activities, and initiatives targeting older adults/seniors and other underserved groups and collaborating with various library agencies and community partners to deliver programs, events and services.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and promote services that serve older adults and seniors their caregivers, partner agencies/groups, and other special populations including low-income families and other underserved groups
  • Create and promote library service materials and present programs that engage older adults and community partners and bring awareness to library services and programs designed for older adults/seniors
  • Lead the coordination and communication between external partners and entities in the creation, design, scheduling and execution of community outreach and engagement programs and services
  • Develop effective early messaging for both online and print resources that would appeal to older adults/senior citizens
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with library partners focused primarily on those serving the needs of older adults and senior citizens
  • Perform business development and community outreach activities to educate the community on CPL’s services
  • May serve as the library representative at public meetings and events
  • May attend meetings, participate on committees
  • Participates in professional development and continuing education
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Five years’ experience planning and executing community outreach and engagement initiatives
  • Five years’ experience designing programs and activities that engage community members, including but not limited to seniors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aging, senior and adult services, etc.
  • Knowledge of program development and delivery best practices
  • Three years event coordination in non-profit or public sector preferred
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft, online applications, software and technology
  • Read, understand, and communicate information and ideas presented in writing
  • Use mathematics to solve problems and proficient in basic accounting principles
  • General principles and objectives of information technology systems and programs
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write, utilize proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure to ensure that written materials prepared and reviewed are complete, succinct, and free of errors
  • Experience in public library or public-sector is preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required
  • Relevant business equipment including the use of basic computer programs and systems

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree preferred
