Reporting to the Lead, Health & Safety, the Officer – Industrial Hygiene role supports the monitoring, assessment and management of occupational health risks across site operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring workplace exposures (including dust, noise, heat and airborne contaminants) are effectively monitored, controlled and compliant with statutory requirements. This role contributes to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment through accurate data collection, risk identification and proactive support of industrial hygiene programs. This position is also key in supporting statutory obligations, including assisting appointed supervisors and contributing to compliance across occupational hygiene requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct workplace exposure monitoring including dust, noise, heat and airborne contaminants
Maintain and calibrate industrial hygiene monitoring equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance
Collect, record and manage industrial hygiene data in line with statutory and company requirements
Prepare reports and documentation to support compliance, audits and regulatory obligations
Communicate monitoring results and provide recommendations to reduce exposure risks
Support implementation of industrial hygiene programs, initiatives and awareness campaigns
Assist in incident investigations relating to occupational health risks
Maintain readiness and compliance of hygiene equipment, systems and processes
Support statutory obligations and assist appointed supervisors in meeting compliance requirements
Requirements:
Qualification in science, occupational hygiene, environmental health, engineering, safety or related discipline
Strong understanding of occupational hygiene principles, exposure monitoring and risk management
Experience in workplace monitoring including dust, noise, air quality and chemical exposure
Knowledge of mining or heavy industry health, safety and statutory requirements
Section 26 Statutory Supervisor qualification (or ability to obtain)
Noise Officer certification
Mine Air Quality Monitoring / Surface Ventilation certification
Nice to have:
Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
Exposure to occupational hygiene systems, data analysis and reporting tools
Experience supporting audits, compliance and regulatory reporting
