Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin. Your Impact Reporting to the Lead, Medical and Emergency Response, the Emergency Services Officer (ESO) plays a critical role in maintaining emergency preparedness and medical response capability across Newmont Tanami Operations. You will support the operational readiness of emergency response resources, deliver emergency response and medical services, and contribute to the ongoing development and training of Emergency Response Team members. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on site safety, emergency preparedness and team capability within a dynamic underground mining environment. As part of our team, you will Respond to site emergencies and provide emergency medical support Maintain emergency response equipment and facilities in a state of readiness Assist with emergency response planning, drills and preparedness activities Deliver training and mentoring to Emergency Response Team members Conduct inspections, audits and compliance activities across emergency systems Support site fitness for work requirements and drug & alcohol testing Assist in the development and continuous improvement of emergency response plans Provide technical guidance on emergency response matters across site Contribute to incident management and emergency coordination activities Prepare reports, training records and compliance documentation Prerequisites for your success in this role Previous experience within mining, construction, defence, rail, critical care or emergency services AHPRA Registration (Desirable) Diploma of Emergency Health Care or higher Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (RII30719) Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116) - (Desirable) HLTPAT005 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing - (Desirable) Previous experience in an underground environment- (Desirable) Strong communication, leadership and mentoring capabilities Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations Experience delivering practical training and competency-based programs Strong organisational, reporting and data analysis skills Current Australian driver’s licence Clean shaven Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Your Work Environment FIFO 14 days on site and 14days offsite (Nigh shift when required) Reside in our fully equipped accommodation village Approved point-of-hire locations: Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane What’s on Offer Industry-competitive remuneration package Annual performance incentives FIFO allowance Health & Wellbeing Allowance Access to employee benefits, career development and progression opportunities with a global organisation Join us and make a difference in creating a safer work environment for everyone.
