Job Description:

Responsible for admission of all patients entering Western State Hospital. Interview patient, complete required documentation for patient record. Data entry is to be performed in the computer as soon as possible after activity occurs. Responsible for assisting the Admitting Physician with the admission process. Types and/or prepare Admission Papers. Requests information from other facilities when indicated. Creates Medical Record to accompany patient to the unit. Other general office duties as needed. Operates a centralized telephone switchboard system. Make announcements and overhead pages. Responsible for monitoring the emergency telephone line and making appropriate emergency/disaster announcements as indicated. Continuously monitors Fire Panel for alarm situations. Communicates with Christian County Emergency Operations via radio. Maintains and follows in-hospital directory lists to provide efficient transfer of calls. Performs light typing and filing to maintain office files. Serves as radio base operator for campus. Required to sort and distribute mail daily in mail room and to all units. Must be able to make independent decisions and work well without close supervision.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate
  • Prefer previous experience in a clerical position
  • Typing, filing, data entry via the computer and good interpersonal skills are preferred
