Responsible for scheduling physician office appointments. Obtain accurate appointment and financial information to create financial accounts. Must maintain excellent rapport with physician's offices and ancillary departments.
Job Responsibility:
Answer all incoming calls within 30 seconds
Maintain a volume of 8 calls an hour
Obtain demographic information to correctly identify patients
Accurately input all information in the electronic medical record system
Pre-register patients by obtaining insurance information and verifying eligibility
Demonstrate proficiency with scheduling guidelines and departmental protocols
Obtain accurate appointment/reason for visit information
Use scheduling matrix when applicable
Advise patients of scheduled appointment and arrival time
Provide patients of directions to selected office location when necessary
Communicate same day add on appointments directly to office coordinator and/or staff
Attend 90% of department staff meeting, read all staff meeting minutes, attend all applicable educational offerings, open and read e-mails daily
Bring to the attention of office coordinator or manager all scheduling issues and patient concerns
Ability to multi-task between heavy call volume, multiple computer systems and frequent interruptions
Must be able to rapidly change priorities
Must effectively adjust to change, prioritize duties as necessary, handle stress
Must consistently communicate with a high level of courtesy and professionalism to providers, staff and patients
Requirements:
Two years Hospital setting or physician's office experience
Knowledge of Medical terminology and basic anatomy
Prior scheduling, patient accounts, unit clerk or medical assistant experience preferred
High school graduate or equivalent
Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal
Knowledge Of Basic Computer Programs
Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
