We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to manage the full lifecycle of sea freight shipments. You will serve as the primary point of contact for overseas agents, carriers, and local clients, ensuring that cargo moves seamlessly from the port of origin to the final destination in Laval and the Greater Montreal Area.
Job Responsibility:
Manage "A to Z" ocean import files, including booking, tracking, and final delivery (drayage)
Review and process Ocean Bills of Lading, Manifests, and Arrival Notices
Ensure all ISF (Importer Security Filing) and customs pre-alerts are submitted on time
Negotiate spot rates with steamship lines and secure container space during peak seasons
Proactively manage port congestion issues, vessel delays, and equipment shortages to minimize demurrage and detention charges
Audit carrier invoices, prepare client billing, and calculate file profitability
Provide real-time tracking updates to clients and advise on Incoterms and optimal shipping routes
Requirements:
3–5 years of direct experience in ocean freight forwarding or international logistics
Bilingual French and English strong asset
Advanced proficiency in freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, or Magaya) and Microsoft Excel
Deep understanding of Incoterms 2020, container types, and steamship line operations
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to remain calm under the pressure of tight shipping windows
CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) certification is considered a strong asset
