Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist to join Medway Council’s Children and Young People with Disabilities (CYPD) 0–18 Service. This is a permanent position, with the opportunity to work as a locum at an umbrella rate while compliance is completed. The Role You will contribute to the delivery of a highly effective Occupational Therapy service for children and young people aged 0 to 18 with disabilities, supporting them to achieve positive outcomes and increased independence. The service is delivered using a strengths-based, personalised approach, requiring high quality assessments and effective clinical reasoning to identify appropriate interventions.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high quality Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people with disabilities aged 0 to 18
Use clinical reasoning to identify suitable solutions and interventions to improve independence and safety
Recommend and facilitate the provision of specialist equipment, enablement techniques, and minor and major adaptations
Make effective use of resources including Disabled Facilities Grants
Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
Promote work life balance and flexible working to support high quality service delivery
Maintain accurate and timely records in line with professional standards and council policies
Actively promote the Council’s Fair Access, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and uphold standards of conduct that prevent discrimination
Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Council’s Health and Safety Policy, and all safe working practices
Demonstrate awareness of the Council’s commitment under Section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998
Undertake any additional duties agreed by the Head of Service that are consistent with the nature of the role
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
Registration with HCPC
Experience working with children and young people with disabilities
Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills
Knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, and Disabled Facilities Grants
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
