An exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work within a specialist multi-disciplinary service has arisen with the CityCare Community Stroke team. The successful applicant would be responsible for the continuity and delivery of Occupational Therapy interventions for patients who are on the stroke pathway. You will be working with clients in their own homes, care homes and in our community discharge beds. An understanding of stroke and /or neurological conditions, the physical, social and psychological impact of this long term condition on the patient and family is desirable. This is an opportunity to join a supportive and innovative team and to be part of a wider network of Occupational Therapists within Nottingham CityCare Partnership. The successful candidate will join the other band 6 OTs in the team in providing: Specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment and specialist interventions to support both patient, carers and wider team; promoting engagement with rehabilitation and self management. Informal / formal supervision of other members of the service i.e. Assistant Practitioners and RSWs. Teaching and ongoing assessment of OT competencies of support staff and students. This is a part time position working 22.5 hours per week.
Job Responsibility:
Provide specialist assessment of patients functional abilities in their own home or other community setting, in order to establish treatment plans and person centred goal orientated plans, alongside an MDT including Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses, Speech and Language therapists and support staff
Deliver specialist treatment plans, including provision of specialist equipment, neuro splinting, cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation, ADL related goals, and specialist postural management
Engage in development and training within the team, through supervision with Band 7 OT, in-service training and other CityCare wide training opportunities
To be involved in service development and transformation of services to enhance service delivery for patients and their carers
Requirements:
BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
Health Care Professions Council registration, licence to practice
Evidence of on-going CPD appropriate to this role
Evidence of achievement of appropriate competencies relevant to this role
Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex conditions demonstrated by clinical reasoning
Evidence updated with professional practice and current best evidence and new research
Excellent communication skills demonstrating an ability to communicate to a variety of audiences
Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to clinicians internally and external to the service
Basic IT skills
Ability to make sound clinical judgement
Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-professional team
Enthusiastic and motivated, Flexible, adaptable, innovative., self-reliant with a positive attitude
Good organisation skills and an ability to delegate and prioritise

A level of post graduate experience demonstrating broad based experience which may include, stroke and or neurology rehabilitation, splinting and health care of older person that is pertinent to the area of work this post applied to including social care OT roles. Proven through attendance at courses and PRD
Experience of multi-agency working
Supervision of less experienced qualified staff and students/support workers
Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, students and assistants
Full driving licence and the ability to travel between locations
Ability to undertake frequent moderate physical effort for several short periods during the working day
Activities may include manoeuvring people, and operating manual handling equipment
Periods of prolonged concentration as work pattern dictates and some exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances and occasional unpleasant conditions
