An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapists to join a dynamic and continually developing Occupational Therapy Service at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for both new graduate or experienced occupational therapists to develop knowledge and skills working within an acute hospital trust and includes our new community rotations (Discharge to Assess team and Acorn Rehabilitation Unit).
Job Responsibility:
Work in a variety of clinical areas, specialising in each area for a period of six months
Advocate and promote the profession within the trust, with patients and within the local area
Requirements:
Documented evidence of CPD
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
Current Health Professions Council registration
Relevant experience during fieldwork placements during training
Application of the OT process
Broad knowledge of best practice in relevant clinical areas
Understanding of a wide range of pathological and traumatic processes, and realise the nature and cause of occupational dysfunction
Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
Understanding of national guidelines and legislation affecting practice
Awareness of Health & Safety legislation
The ability to critically evaluate current evidence or research and apply to practice
The ability to reflect on practice, relating to a clinical intervention during training
The ability to work independently and as part of a multi disciplinary team/multi agency team
The ability to gather, assimilate and distil information
The ability to establish and maintain clear communication, both written and verbal, with others
The ability to manage time effectively
The ability to work under pressure
Physical ability to handle patients using appropriate equipment such as hoist and wheelchair
Sound physical, emotional and mental stamina
Basic IT skills
Dexterity to fabricate splints to achieve correct anatomical position
The ability to understand risk assessment
The ability to conduct self in a professional manner
Nice to have:
Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists
Placement experience in a hospital setting that demonstrates essential core skills
