Job Description

The North Coast Community Services Society (NCCS) has a position available for an Occupational Therapist in the incredible community of Prince Rupert where adventure abounds. NCCS offers a variety of programs and services to children, youth, and families in Prince Rupert and the wider geographic area that includes Haida Gwaii. As a member of a multi-disciplinary service delivery team, under the supervision of the Team Lead for Goal Focused Services, the Occupational Therapist develops, implements, and evaluates individually designed programs of intervention and provides related assistive technology, educational, vocational, and recreational recommendations for children and youth with physical disabilities and/or neurodiverse needs. The goal of the OT program is to help children and youth meet developmental milestones, minimize physical and sensory challenges, and improve success in self-care, play, self-regulation, and community participation.

Job Responsibility

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates individually designed programs of intervention
  • Provides related assistive technology, educational, vocational, and recreational recommendations for children and youth with physical disabilities and/or neurodiverse needs
  • Helps children and youth meet developmental milestones, minimize physical and sensory challenges, and improve success in self-care, play, self-regulation, and community participation
  • Brings humanity, support, and guidance to families in need
  • Addresses complex community needs, including the use of remote service delivery technologies

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an entry-to-practice occupational therapy program
  • Registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
  • Clear Criminal Record Review
  • Ability to use standard office and communication technologies and learn new applications
  • Physical ability to meet job requirements
  • Class 5 driver's license, clear driver's abstract and daily access to and use of vehicle

Nice to have

Prior experience in pediatric OT service delivery and supervision of a Rehabilitation or Therapy Assistant
