Job Description:

Kisimul provides residential care, supported living and education services for people who have a learning disability, a diagnosis of autism and a range of associated complex needs. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join the organisation as an Occupational Therapist and be a part of our multi-disciplinary team. As an Occupational Therapist you will make a key contribution to providing effective person-centred support within our Meaningful Life Model.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide a service to young people (aged between 8 and 19 years)
  • Support individuals to develop skills to enable them to actively participate in a lifestyle of their choosing
  • Build meaningful therapeutic relationships with individuals
  • Build upon understanding of occupational needs of a client group with learning disability, a diagnosis of autism and associated complex needs
  • Bring about best practice in all aspects of engagement

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Current professional registration with HCPC
  • Ideally be a member of The Royal College of Occupational Therapists
  • Experience working in relevant areas (e.g., learning disability, specialist school settings, mental health settings)
  • Passion for supporting people with these needs
  • Proactive in seeking advice and support for professional development and clinical decision making
  • Dynamic, resilient and motivated individual
  • Commitment to an evolving service and delivering effective and evidenced service initiatives
  • Post graduate training in sensory integration is desirable or a willingness to undertake this post graduate training is essential
