Job Description:

The successful applicant will work in one of Port Sunlight’s manufacturing units, advising the business on up to date safety and environment legislation legislation and leading on the safety management within a top tier COMAH site. The role of the SHE Leader will be the sole adviser to a manufacturing unit and form part of a larger site OSHE team. On an ad-hoc basis there may be the opportunity to lead and manage specific projects.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drives safety culture in the manufacturing unit by ensuring that all Company safety policy, rules and procedures are understood and followed
  • Drives incident reporting and ensures appropriate analysis and action follow up
  • Lead incident investigation officer in the Sourcing Unit and ensure that all learning’s are cascaded across the factory
  • Performing regular Safety and Environmental audits and ensuring that all audit actions are completed
  • Providing support to Operational and Technical teams in carrying out Risk and COSHH assessments
  • Managing the assessment database to ensure all risk and COSHH assessments are current
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate Preliminary Hazard Assessments
  • Advise on the implications of existing and forthcoming National and EU Safety and Environmental legislation and recommend methods of implementation
  • Support the resolution on the Company’s behalf Employer Liability and Third Party insurance claims arising from Safety or Environmental incidents
  • Ensure all ISO requirements are adhered to
  • Ensure strong working relationships with the Occupational Health and HR departments
  • Organise personal dosimetry testing when required
  • Organise mask face fit testing and ensure all personnel working on site has been trained to fit a dst mask properly
  • Provide training in specific health areas such as safe manual handing
  • Support health initiatives on site
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and driving forward of environmental KPI’s
  • Engage the workforce in the company environmental agenda
  • Have knowledge on COMAH legislation
  • Lead the safety pillar for the areas they are responsible for
  • Support the SHE elements of other pillars working in their area
  • Detailed involvement in the environment pillar and assessing and advising on maintenance and focused improvement activities

Requirements:

  • Detailed knowledge of SHE Legalisation and their application to the Sourcing Unit
  • Detailed knowledge of Unilever SHE guidelines and their application to the Sourcing Unit
  • Fully trained and competent in carrying out Risk and COSHH Assessments
  • Competent in performing Accident analysis
  • ISO Lead Auditor is preferential
  • Detailed knowledge of the safety and environment pillars
  • Working knowledge of AM, PM, FI, Quality and EEM
  • PC literacy (MS Office) and Loss Information system
  • Good understanding of key external stakeholders and legislative authorities e.g. HSE, EA
  • NEBOSH diploma
  • Environmental qualification preferred
