Due to this we are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Occupational Hygienist to join our Occupational Health team. The position will work closely to assist the site safety team & and the operation in ensuring that the site comply with all company and statutory occupational health, safety and training regulations. You will report to the Manager Hygiene & Radiation however will have full support of the onsite management. This role will see you travelling to various MinRes and client-based sites in a roving capacity on an 8:6 roster, where your well-rounded background as an Occupational Hygienist will allow you to apply your skills and experience to support effective health risk management across diverse operational environments.

Job Responsibility

  • Undertake the legislative duties of mine air quality officer & noise officer
  • Undertake airborne contaminant and noise sampling and review laboratory reports
  • Conduct potable water sampling as per the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan
  • Assist Radiation Safety Officer (NORM) to complete their duties when required
  • Conduct fit testing to all workgroups for respirators and hearing protection
  • Assess and evaluate work procedures & environments to identify potential health hazards and eliminate them or ensure adequate controls are in place
  • Maintain and review the Health Management Plan along with the annual sampling plan
  • Maintain drinking water quality management plans across operations
  • Ensure all health hazards and incidents identified are assessed, controlled & reported in INX
  • Conduct control verification activities
  • Conduct investigations for occupational hygiene incidents
  • Report occupational hygiene exposure data to stakeholders at set frequencies
  • Allocate your time effectively across the MinRes business units
  • Undertake audit & assurance activities to ensure compliance
  • Facilitate and develop site-based training as required, such as the company workshops, leadership programs, induction processes and other
  • Liaising with statutory & regulatory bodies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Science, Engineering or Chemistry)
  • Mine air quality officer qualifications (essential)
  • Noise officer qualifications (essential)
  • Registered LGIRS sampler (air & noise) (essential)
  • Formal post graduate qualification in occupational hygiene (desired)
  • General radiation (NORM) assessment and management knowledge and experience
  • Current WA driver’s license
  • Current – apply first aid certificate
  • Advanced computer literacy, including familiarity with safety software systems
  • Previous experience in an occupational hygiene role on a major mining project
  • Extensive knowledge of occupational hygiene legislation, policies & practices
  • Demonstrated leadership & teamwork skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Sound knowledge of Western Australian occupational health & safety regulations, standards & Codes of Practice
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal & written

Formal post graduate qualification in occupational hygiene (desired)
