Job Description:

In this vital role you will responsible for research activities on the Inflammation therapeutic area team. The CfOR Senior Manager is recognized as a strong scientific contributor and a first or contributing author for papers in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts for scientific congresses and internal reports that improve the company’s mission.

Job Responsibility:

  • Designing and performing studies to support evidence generation such as identifying appropriate patient populations, assessing disease burden and resource utilization, acquiring product registrations and label-expansions, meeting post-marketing requirements/commitments and product differentiation
  • Finding opportunities to substitute for and/or complement interventional studies to reduce time and cost of drug development
  • Influencing cross-functional team members in the utilization and timing of non-interventional research to answer high-priority strategic business questions
  • Leveraging real-world data and CfOR analytic approaches to inform high-value business decisions for multiple partners
  • Tracking business and functional priorities and aligning resources for those priorities
  • Contributing to the mission of the CfOR including progressing innovative epidemiological methods and analytical capabilities to support the CfOR’s leadership role within Amgen and the industry

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of related research and scientific experience
  • Master's degree and 4 years of related research and scientific experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related research and scientific experience
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of related research and scientific experience
  • High School diploma / GED and 12 years of related research and scientific experience

Nice to have:

  • Doctorate in Epidemiology or other subject with high observational research content
  • Experience in the design, execution and analysis of observational research studies within Pharmaceutical and/or Public Health settings
  • Experience in research to support drug development
  • Experience with secondary data systems including administrative claims, electronic medical record systems, and registries
  • Experience working with global team
  • Experience in observational research project planning and management
  • Proven experience working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Provide Payer and Formulary Support through value and medical presentations that focus on therapeutic as well as economic outcomes and utilization aspects of products, and in clinical policy discussions such as evidence-based medicine, clinical guidelines and prior authorization in areas where Amgen has therapeutic expertise
  • Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with current and future Payer, Policy, IDN, and Health Economic and Outcomes Research opinion leaders through identifying speaker opportunities and concepts and letters of intent for investigator supported economics, humanistic outcome, and non-registration clinical studies to support Amgen’s product messages within scope
  • Interact with key internal stakeholders to provide feedback on customer trends in interpreting and using value evidence, reimbursement and payer policy
  • Provide complex value-based technical information inclusive of medical education, health outcomes and Pharmacoeconomics information and models and research protocol opportunities to appropriate audiences
  • Represent Amgen Scientific Affairs to designated payer & select IDN accounts
  • Represent Amgen to designated thought leaders in health economics and outcomes research for Amgen Global Health Economics (GHE) and Amgen Center for Observational Research (CfOR)
  • Foster scientific information exchange as it relates to reimbursement and coverage policy between the medical community and Amgen
  • Collect and report competitive intelligence within Amgen’s competitive intelligence guidelines
  • Effectively manage internal relationships, budgets, and T and E within guidelines
  • Conduct all assigned duties within Amgen compliance guidelines
