Nurture Teacher | Brand-New SEND Secondary School Location: Chaldon/Caterham, Surrey Salary: £34,398 - £50,668 (M1 - UPS2 Fringe) + £5,000 Welcome Bonus Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Are you a passionate educator who believes that emotional well-being is the foundation of academic success? We are seeking a dedicated Nurture Teacher to join a pioneering team at a brand-new, specialist secondary school catering to students with Autism (ASC) and associated social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing school from the ground up, shaping the environment and curriculum for young people (ages 11-16) who require a more supportive, therapeutic approach to learning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead a Nurture Group: Create a safe, predictable, and stimulating classroom environment where students feel secure enough to learn
  • Personalise Learning: Develop and deliver differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual EHC plans, ensuring every student makes progress at their own pace
  • Collaborate: Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to integrate therapeutic strategies into daily classroom life
  • Empower Students: Use non-confrontational, trauma-informed strategies to help students manage their emotions and develop social communication skills

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential
  • SEND Experience: Proven experience working with students with ASC/SEMH is vital
  • Resilience & Empathy: A genuine 'nurture' mindset and the ability to stay calm under pressure
