The full-time nursing faculty member works under the direction of the Dean of Health, Education, Culinary Arts and Human Services Sciences and the Director of Nursing Education; The faculty member works collaboratively and collegially to provide instruction in theory, clinical practice, and high quality fidelity simulation laboratories. Provides PN & ASN nursing students with opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop clinical reasoning to make sound judgments, perform psychomotor skills, and demonstrate competency in the end-of-program student learning outcomes (EPSLOs). Prepares students for entry level into nursing practice and passing of their appropriate licensure exam. Follows the policies and regulations of the governing, accrediting and regional institutions, Holyoke Community College (HCC), Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN), and the Accreditation Commission of Nursing Education (ACEN) standards for the PN and ASN programs and Healthcare Organization requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Participates in BORN regulations compliance/approval, ACEN accreditation process and the Department of Nursing Systematic Evaluation Plan (SPE)
Participates in the development, revision and maintenance of the concept-based nursing curriculum
Utilizes a wide variety of teaching methodologies, including informational learning technologies and active learning strategies
Acquires knowledge of concept-based curriculum development and revisions
Follows the application of the NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN test plans in the curriculum and test item writing
Ensures simulation-based education practices align with program policies
Assigns, supervises, plans and evaluates student clinical experiences in contracted practice learning environments
Supports working relationships with practice learning environments
Follows created simulation lab learning experiences
Engages in nursing students' success strategies through student advising, recruitment
Works effectively as part of the overall department
Models professional behaviors for learners
Assist in the College and Department assessment processes
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies
Participates in College Governance and Department of Nursing committees
