Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, compassionate and enthusiastic Band 3 Nursing Assistant to work within our Neuro Psychiatry inpatient service on Ward 2, Walkergate Park. The service supports individuals who have Neurological conditions or have sustained a brain injury, who present with a range of mental health, physical, cognitive, communication and emotional problems, and who may be exhibiting challenging behaviour which prevents the individual engaging in other specialist environments. We aim to provide a secure, structured and low stimulation environment that is suitable for people who require assessment and treatment.

Job Responsibility

  • Working within Neuro Psychiatry inpatient service on Ward 2, Walkergate Park
  • Supporting individuals with neurological conditions or brain injury
  • Providing a secure, structured and low stimulation environment
  • Working shifts, rotating throughout a 24 hour period
  • Being visible and accessible to patients, families and carers
  • Providing compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, mutual respect and dignity

Requirements

  • Completion of a competency-based programme within probationary period OR equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of care related procedures, clinical observation, relevant legislation
  • Previous care experience
  • Person centred care approach
  • Understanding of mental health and/or learning disabilities needs
  • Safeguarding knowledge
  • Awareness of carer needs
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to undertake PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective Time Management

Nice to have

  • Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject OR a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • Accurate record keeping skills
