Job Description

Nursing Assistant CNA - Part-time - 3rd Shift at Aurora St Lukes Medical Center. The role involves patient care, vital signs monitoring, support for nurses and doctors, patient observation, and emotional support. Openings may be available on several inpatient units. Pace & Environment is fast-paced, often high-pressure. Duties include assisting with post-operative care, monitoring vital signs frequently, supporting nurses during procedures, and transporting patients. Team Structure involves working closely with a large, multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Help patients with mobility: turning, repositioning, and transferring between beds and wheelchairs
  • Serve meals and assist with feeding if needed
  • Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate
  • Report any changes in a patient’s condition to nurses or doctors
  • Set up medical equipment and assist during some procedures
  • Transport patients to different departments (e.g., radiology, surgery)
  • Restock supplies and maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Monitor patients for signs of distress or changes in behavior
  • Document care provided and communicate observations to the healthcare team
  • Offer companionship and reassurance to patients
  • Communicate with patients’ families and help them understand care routines

Requirements

  • High School Diploma of the equivalent
  • CNA (WI Registry)
  • Compassion and patience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to use equipment (gait belts, transfer devices, lifts, etc) to care for patients
