Job Description:

Nursery Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role for one year starting September 2026. The school provides a warm, nurturing, and well‑organised early years environment where children feel safe, valued, and well supported. Teaching and care in the early years are carefully structured, helping children to settle quickly and develop positive learning behaviours. Leaders ensure staff work closely together to create a calm and inclusive setting where children make steady progress in their early development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support children in the nursery setting on a full-time basis
  • Assist with play‑based and structured early learning activities
  • Support early communication, language, and social development
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
  • Support children with daily routines, including transitions and personal care
  • Work with small groups and individual children to reinforce learning
  • Assist the class teacher with classroom organisation and preparation
  • Support children with additional needs where required
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise child welfare

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a nursery or early years setting
  • Understanding of early childhood development
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to support children with a range of needs
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting early learning
