Job Description

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team in Houghton-le-Spring. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the nursery, providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting children’s learning and development through play-based activities
  • Assisting the nursery team with daily routines, including meal times, outdoor play, and creative activities
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging environment
  • Providing individual support to children where needed
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff

Requirements

  • Paediatric First Aid trained (in date)
  • Experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting
  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety in early years

Nice to have

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare / Early Years Education
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
