Affinity Workforce Solutions are proud to be supporting a number of welcoming and inclusive nurseries and early‑years settings that are part of the Gloucester Learning Alliance (GLA), located across Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. The GLA is a highly regarded multi‑academy trust made up of 11 exceptional primary schools. Known for its warm, community‑focused ethos, strong leadership, and consistently Good to Outstanding Ofsted ratings, the GLA provides nurturing, child‑centred environments committed to giving every child the very best start in life. These nurseries and early‑years settings are seeking dedicated Nursery Practitioners to join their teams. This rewarding role involves working closely with children aged 0-5 across both mainstream and SEN early‑years environments, providing nurturing, development‑focused support to help them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically through play‑based learning. Every child is unique, and your approach will be adapted to meet their individual needs. You’ll work alongside Room Leaders, Early Years Teachers, and the SENCO to help children achieve their developmental milestones, often through 1:1 support and small‑group activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting staff with daily routines, activities, and learning opportunities
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support to promote development
  • Encouraging children’s learning through play, exploration, and positive interaction
  • Helping maintain a safe, calm, and stimulating nursery environment
  • Supporting behaviour management and emotional wellbeing
  • Observing children’s progress and sharing feedback with the team

Requirements

  • Passionate about working with young children and creative in your approach
  • Confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
  • Comfortable leading a group or room in the absence of senior staff
  • Emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
  • Friendly, approachable, and committed to inclusive early‑years education
  • Awareness or experience of supporting children with SEN

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting early‑years development or mental health
  • Relevant childcare qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Early Years)
  • Enthusiasm to learn, a great sense of humour, and a growth mindset
  • Enhanced DBS (Affinity Workforce can assist with this)
