Job Responsibility

Prepare and cook healthy and nutritious meals and snacks from approved Cherubs Nurseries’ menus
Take an active role championing cooking and baking across all areas of the nursery, including baking with children and preparing additional food for nursery events such as Parent’s Evening and Summer Fair
Maintain a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
Ensure good stock rotation in cupboards, fridges and freezers
Ensure correct temperature of all food, especially high-risk food before service
Be aware of health and safety legislation relevant to the nursery kitchen
Attend both in-house and external training, as required (some may be outside working hours)
Take the lead in Environmental Health Inspections, aspiring to achieve a ‘5’ grading
Attend 3 paid Saturday training days per year (January, May, September) and an annual Saturday fundraising event

A minimum Level 3 qualification in food hygiene is an essential requirement
excellent knowledge of current legislations in Environmental Health and Food Standards Agency
satisfactory, enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check on appointment and every three years thereafter

Job Responsibility

Planning, preparation and serving of age appropriate, nutritious and well-balanced meals and snacks catering for the children's individual dietary requirements and food allergies
Ordering, control, storage and rotation of kitchen stock
Ensuring that you and Kitchen Assistants ensure hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation
