Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a dynamic Nurse Shift Manager to join our Medical Surgical ICU team. In this vital role, you'll coordinate and supervise nursing care for patients from newborn to 18 years old, ensuring the highest standards of evidence-based practice are met.
Job Responsibility:
Leads and supervises nursing staff during assigned shifts, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
Assigns patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity and nursing staff expertise, ensuring optimal patient outcomes
Serves as a clinical resource and educator, assessing, monitoring, and training nursing staff on best practices in patient care
Responds effectively to emergencies, initiating appropriate procedures and providing guidance to the team
Proactively anticipates and addresses staffing needs, ensuring seamless patient care transitions
Provides direct patient care as needed, demonstrating clinical expertise and compassion
Oversees unit operations, including supply management and accurate patient record keeping, to ensure a smooth transition for subsequent shifts
Actively engages with patients and families, fostering a positive and supportive care environment
Attends leadership meetings, staying informed about new initiatives and areas for improvement, and effectively communicates this information to the team
Monitors departmental productivity and efficiency, identifying opportunities for optimization
Mentors and develops team members, sharing knowledge and fostering confidence in assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and other staff
Ensures the department is positioned to deliver the highest quality care to our patients
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN) required and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other-related field (e.g., BSN/BBA/BHA)
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse
Registered Nurse with current CA License
Basic Life Support (BLS) other credentials or credential modules may be required
