In a Nursing Practice setting, provides patient care in collaboration with a member of medical staff. Works in a collaborative relationship with a physician provider to oversee the care delivered to a patient population or program of services. Responsible for direct patient care, documentation of care delivered, adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital-required reviews of practice, and participation in performance improvement and other activities as required.
Job Responsibility:
Provides patient care consistent with the scope of privileges defined by the sponsoring department, written practice protocols, and applicable state and federal laws regulations in collaboration with other health members
Completes daily patient evaluations and assessments per protocol
Documents pertinent findings in patient record
Obtains medical history and performs medical examinations
Instructs and counsels patients and families, in collaboration with other health team members
Performs routine procedures per protocol and established standards
Writes medication and other medical orders
Provide education for various learners
Identifies and participates in research and quality assurance activities, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Master's degree from an Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience in a health care setting preferred
Clinical competence from very acute, chronic and well patients required
Licensed Nurse Practitioner in NYS upon hire required
