Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join the Division of Emergency Medicine. The Emergency Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. The Urgent Cares consist of 6 locations around the county of San Diego and the surrounding areas. The Emergency Department is located at the Rady Children’s Hospital Main Campus. Note: Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants assigned to Emergency Medicine will be required to work at additional locations on occasion.
Job Responsibility:
Provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical settings
Accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician
Primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well pediatric patients collaboratively with the Divisions of Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care
Functions as a clinical leader, educator, researcher, and consultant
Implements the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care
Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare services within the scope of licensure
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Nursing
Current California Nurse Practitioner license
Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Current PALS Certification, issued by AHA
Furnishing number, State of California – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within one year of employment
Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) - Must obtain within 6 months of employment
Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division
Master’s Degree
Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
Current California Physician Assistant License
Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Current PALS Certification, issued by AHA
DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within one year of employment
Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) - Must obtain within 6 months of employment
Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (must obtain within 1 year of employment)
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Successfully completes the requirements of the PA Practice Agreement for the assigned division
Nice to have:
Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area
Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner
