Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner (NP), Acute Care delivers primary care to patients, including those in the complex and chronically ill population. Works collaboratively with their department of medicine specialty and any Inpatient unit, with the exception of patients defined as Critical Care (NICU, PICU, CTICU) and under the care of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)-credentialed physician. The Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care may provide consultation within their specialty to patients in the Critical Care Departments, Emergency Department, Outpatient setting, etc. The NP provides comprehensive: physical assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families. The NP also functions as a clinical leader, consultant, and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and all healthcare team members. The NP supports the philosophies of the department and is evaluated by nursing and medical staff. The NP also performs under standardized procedures within the acute care services per Medical Staff privileges. Generally, they are working in a unit that is a 24/7 operation. Schedules are not limited to Monday-Friday with limited or no holidays.
