FSH RN Med Surg PRN (Internal Only)s are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. FSH RN Med Surg PRN (Internal Only)s are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op.
Job Responsibility:
Demonstrates the ability to perform interventions and provide services to the level of licensure as defined by the Nurse Practice Act of the Board of Registered Nursing of California
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness
Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients needs
Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
Able to interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group
Documentation meets current standards and policies
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors
Communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needs
Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
Demonstrates ability to use SBAR Format when giving report from any other medical professional

Requirements:
Completion of an accredited registered nursing program
One year of acute care experience
Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to ensure a positive and productive work environment
Ability to plan and prioritize work with frequent interruptions
Ability to provide exceptional customer service
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge and proficiency of hospital information technology applications
Current California nursing license
ACLS and BLS Certificate required
