We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for Labor and Delivery to provide clinical and operational leadership for a high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit in Florence, Alabama. This full-time, day-shift leadership role is ideal for a seasoned L&D nurse leader who is passionate about quality outcomes, staff development, and patient-centered maternity care. The Nurse Manager will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting nursing teams, and fostering a collaborative culture focused on safety, engagement, and exceptional patient experiences.
Job Responsibility:
Provide leadership and oversight of daily operations for the Labor and Delivery unit
Ensure high standards of patient care, clinical quality, and staff performance
Manage staffing, scheduling, and 24/7-unit coverage while proactively addressing gaps
Lead staff development, performance evaluations, education, and competency validation
Foster collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Uphold evidence-based practices, policies, and clinical standards
Support patient-centered care, including natural childbirth options when desired
Navigate complex clinical and operational challenges with sound judgment and initiative
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
Demonstrated leadership experience (charge nurse or supervisory experience preferred)
Active, unrestricted RN license with no disciplinary actions
Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
Strong knowledge of OR workflows and Labor and Delivery protocols
Proven ability to lead teams, manage staffing, and communicate effectively
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
BSN required or commitment to obtain within an established timeframe
RN license eligible to practice in the state of Alabama
