Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for Labor and Delivery to provide clinical and operational leadership for a high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit in Florence, Alabama. This full-time, day-shift leadership role is ideal for a seasoned L&D nurse leader who is passionate about quality outcomes, staff development, and patient-centered maternity care. The Nurse Manager will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting nursing teams, and fostering a collaborative culture focused on safety, engagement, and exceptional patient experiences.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of daily operations for the Labor and Delivery unit
  • Ensure high standards of patient care, clinical quality, and staff performance
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and 24/7-unit coverage while proactively addressing gaps
  • Lead staff development, performance evaluations, education, and competency validation
  • Foster collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Uphold evidence-based practices, policies, and clinical standards
  • Support patient-centered care, including natural childbirth options when desired
  • Navigate complex clinical and operational challenges with sound judgment and initiative

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (charge nurse or supervisory experience preferred)
  • Active, unrestricted RN license with no disciplinary actions
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
  • Strong knowledge of OR workflows and Labor and Delivery protocols
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage staffing, and communicate effectively
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN required or commitment to obtain within an established timeframe
  • RN license eligible to practice in the state of Alabama
