Job Description:

The Nurse Manager, Inpatient Oncology, oversees daily patient flow and clinical operations within a designated unit, focusing on oncology and hematology care. This role involves coordinating and supervising nursing and clinical assistant staff to ensure high-quality patient care and education. The Nurse Manager collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, delegates tasks appropriately, and provides clinical leadership to foster professional growth for both self and staff. Emphasizing systems thinking, diversity, collaboration, and clinical judgment, the Nurse Manager utilizes evidence-based knowledge to enhance clinical practice. As a mentor, the Nurse Manager nurtures leadership potential and promotes professional development within Nursing and Patient Care Services. All practices align with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Specific duties may vary across programs and areas.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Registered Nurse with 3 years experience in health care, and entry level leadership
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and or New Hampshire as applicable
  • Critical thinking, collaboration and excellent communication skills
  • Clinical expertise within the care of the oncology and hematology patient population, including but not limited to management of patients receiving anticancer agents and blood products
  • Demonstrates understanding of special needs and behaviors of age groups of the population served

Nice to have:

  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred or intent to enroll into program within 6 months of hire. Area of study preferred is Nursing Leadership
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Leadership, Oncology, or Research Nursing certification preferred (required to obtain within 2 years of employment)
