The Nurse Director is responsible for providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across multiple hospital units within a 24/7 care environment. This role oversees patient care delivery, staffing, quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and financial performance while partnering with physicians and cross-functional leaders to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care. The Nurse Director establishes best practices, leads performance improvement initiatives, and ensures optimal resource utilization to meet organizational goals.

Provides clinical oversight and ensures safe, high-quality, standardized patient care
Maintains clinical expertise and ensures appropriate delegation aligned with scope of practice
Leads investigation and resolution of patient and family concerns
Partners with physicians and care teams to optimize care across the continuum
Oversees nursing services and patient care delivery in a 24/7 operational environment
Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements (Nursing Practice Act, TJC, federal/state regulations)
Leads continuous survey readiness, mock audits, and regulatory documentation review
Establishes and monitors quality and safety outcomes
Drives evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Oversees budget development and financial performance for assigned areas
Ensures appropriate utilization of staff, equipment, supplies, and medications
Evaluates operational efficiency and implements cost-effective solutions
Directs emergency preparedness planning, training, and recovery initiatives
Leads strategic improvement projects focused on quality, service, affordability, and efficiency
Uses data analysis and performance metrics to monitor and improve outcomes
Collaborates with executive leadership on enterprise-wide initiatives
Requirements:
Minimum 7 years of experience in patient care delivery
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare operations, clinical leadership, or related field
Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience with direct reports
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required at hire)
Knowledge of Patient Safety & Quality Standards
Knowledge of Nursing Principles & Evidence-Based Practice
Knowledge of Emergency Preparedness & Change Management
