Job Description:

North Cumbria Memory and Later Life Service has a new and exciting opportunity for a motivated, values driven and passionate senior nurse for the role as Nurse Consultant. The Nurse Consultant will have significant clinical experience and a proven record of clinical leadership, change management and innovation. The role will encompass expert clinical nursing care along with key responsibilities for service developments, education and training, professional leadership and consultancy. The successful candidate will be required to base in North Cumbria to support our teams East and West.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the strategic direction for the development of nursing practice within the service and across the community CBU
  • Take the lead in extending boundaries and creating frameworks for the enhancement of nursing within their specialty
  • Strive towards excellence in nursing care and communicate this excellence to colleagues both within the organisation and externally
  • Exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the therapy of clients ensuring appropriate assessment, formulation and interventions communicating with the internal agent and others involved with the care on a regular basis

Requirements:

  • First level Registered Nurse
  • Recognised teaching qualification, or relevant experience
  • Postgraduate qualification at Masters level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of experience in therapeutic interventions relevant to specialty, i.e. nurse Prescribing, CBT, DBT, PSI, EFT, NLP and Family Interventions, Group work
  • Extensive experience of working within areas relevant to designated team
  • Experience of working therapeutically with adults of all ages
  • Substantial experience in a nursing leadership role
  • Have led service development changes, awareness of the evolving healthcare agenda and the implications for nursing
  • Experience of research and development into practice
  • Evidence of facilitating quality improvement in practice
  • Knowledge of clinical governance issues
  • Experience of training and education / lecturing within higher education field
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries internally and externally
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to put strategy into action
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prioritisation of complex workload

Nice to have:

  • Non medical prescribing or willingness to complete this
  • Experience of contributing to the development of nursing at a regional / national level
  • Experience of contributing towards service development at an organisational / regional / national level
  • Exposure to the corporate development of nursing services
  • Experience of taking on the role of Responsible Clinician
  • Led a visionary piece of work and evaluated outcomes
