Job Description:

Performs designated basic patient care and related nursing tasks to provide optimal/quality care consistent with Hospital mission and Nursing philosophy, goals, standards, and bylaws. Assists the Licensed Nurse in the implementation of nursing care in predictable, uncomplicated, and stable patient situations as directed.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs designated basic patient care and related nursing tasks
  • Assists the Licensed Nurse in the implementation of nursing care
  • Observes and reports the patient's general appearance/behavior/response to care
  • Obtains and documents patient vital signs
  • Assists patient with elimination activities
  • Performs hygienic/comfort measures
  • Performs and documents therapeutic measures
  • Checks, turns, and repositions patients
  • Provides 1:1 monitoring of patients as directed
  • Prepares patient for meals and assists or feeds patient
  • Assists in the admission/transfer/discharge process
  • Maintains unit and patient care environment in a clean and neat manner
  • Answers call lights
  • Assists in standard pre-operative/post-operative care procedures
  • Performs surgical/orthopedic skin preps and surgical scrubs as needed
  • Performs post-mortem care as needed
  • Demonstrates initiative in seeking out patient care/unit maintenance tasks
  • Assists the licensed nurse with communication with physicians, staff and family members
  • Ensures excellent customer service to patients

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • successful completion of a state Board of Nursing Aide 1 with plus 4 skills approved training program
  • Nurse Aide I Registration
  • BLS Course C, CPR Certification per policy guidelines
  • Ability to hear, speak, and comprehend English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Emergency Department experience required
