Job Responsibility

Maintains direct and general patient care, provides on-going patient assessments and implements appropriate intervention, under Emergency Department (ED) Physician or intermediary staff orders
Administers IV medications during a procedure, under the direction of an ED physician, and in accordance with established protocols
Assesses patient’s status pre, during and post procedure and communicates accurately and timely any concerns or changes to ED Physician or intermediary staff
Takes vital signs, weighs patients, collects routine urine specimens, cleans catch specimens, stool specimens, and sputum specimens in accordance with established procedures
Administers and controls State approved medications
prepares, hangs, monitors and discontinues intravenous fluids
Applies/administers O2 flow as prescribed by ED Physician
Assists physicians and nursing staff with procedures utilizing aseptic/sterile techniques including but not limited to IV set-up, intubation, suturing, arterial lines, and chest tubes
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after discharges
