Our dynamic, customer facing Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) team has been supporting the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) naval nuclear propulsion programme for over sixty years. A number of exciting opportunities have arisen to join this diverse team of highly experienced staff who provide a key role in supporting the safe operation of the UK’s submarine fleet. As a Nuclear Technical Engineer, you will help deliver independent assurance services to the MoD. This includes the provision of safety and technical advice for both current and future submarine Naval Reactor Plants (NRP), which involves working with a wide range of technical disciplines to provide balanced, proportionate and timely support.
Job Responsibility:
Providing authoritative Advice to the MoD through safety and technical assessments
Supporting meetings with the MoD and their contractors
Co-ordinating output across a range of relevant technical disciplines
Working according to the best applicable safety, technical and regulatory standards against agreed programmes and budgets
Working in accordance with business requirements for health, safety, environment, and security, as well as seeking continuous improvements in all aspects of work
Requirements:
Degree (Level 6, minimum requirement) in science or engineering (or equivalent)
Membership of (or working towards) a professional institution is desirable
Knowledge or operational experience of the Naval Reactor Plant is desirable
Knowledge of safety cases (structures and function)
Familiarity with related documentation (NRPA NSMAs, DSA02-DNSR, ONR SAPs etc)
Clear, concise technical writing and communication skills
This role will require security clearance
therefore, applicants should hold or be able to obtain security clearance in the UK
