Job Responsibility:

  • Perform multidisciplinary tasks using evolving radiologic instrumentation, radiopharmaceuticals techniques and procedures
  • Provide patient centered care with empathetic and instructional patient care and monitoring
  • Apply detailed attention to procedural accuracy, dosage, calibration, and administration of patient services
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
  • Use published procedures, techniques and radiopharmaceutical administration guidelines to produce images and lab results
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for injection, ingestion, and inhalation
  • measure radioactivity dosage, maintain records
  • maintain safe procedures for handling, administration, storage and disposal of materials
  • Verify patient identification, pregnancy status, breast-feeding status, and order for procedure
  • maintain proper patient communication throughout procedure
  • Use proper procedures to ensure quality results from imaging equipment, radiation detection equipment, detection and counting devices
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and procedures for radioactive contamination monitoring and decontamination, disposal of radioactive waste
  • provide instruction on radiation hazards and principles of radiation safety
  • Operate gamma cameras with sealed sources of radioactive material for transmission imaging with single photon emission tomography or positron emission tomography and transmission imaging when performed as part of SPECT/CT or PET/CT including diagnostic CT
  • Prepare and administer contrast media/agents
  • Complete department and hospital records for billing and procedure monitoring
  • participate in quality assurance programs
  • maintain daily radiopharmaceutical records and patient log book
  • complete regular monitoring survey
  • Perform or assist with preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and minor equipment repair
  • calibrate cameras, dose calibrators

  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
  • Under the supervision or direction of a Radiologist, safely and properly retrieve, handle, store, and waste select medications for use during the setup, performance, and cleanup of radiology procedures

  • Program Graduate
  • Commision on Allied Health (AMA) Nuclear Med
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
  • Intermediate Life Support Certification w/in 6 months
  • NM Nuc Med Tech
  • ARRT Nuclear Cert or NMTCB National Cert
  • ARRT(CT) and/or NMTCB (CT) by 11/01/2026
  • NMMIRTP CT Lic or prov up to 2 yrs of position
