Job Responsibility:
Trains and receives regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist while performing Nuclear Medicine studies in a safe and efficient manner
Reviews patient history and physician's orders
Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure
Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age related needs and provision of care
Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
Enters, transmits and reports scan results
Orders, prepares, administers, stores and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms
Requirements:
1 year of relevant experience preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) upon hire required
CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) upon hire required
NMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) upon hire required
Maintenance of current NYS licensure required
BCLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification upon hire required
