Job Responsibility:

  • Trains and receives regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist while performing Nuclear Medicine studies in a safe and efficient manner
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
  • Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure
  • Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age related needs and provision of care
  • Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results
  • Orders, prepares, administers, stores and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms

Requirements:

  • 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) upon hire required
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) upon hire required
  • NMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) upon hire required
  • Maintenance of current NYS licensure required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification upon hire required
