The Security Supervisor oversees the physical protection of nuclear Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) facilities against intrusion and acts of sabotage. The Security Supervisor will manage ISFSI surveillance, access and/or egress of personnel, vehicles, and materials, and monitor plant surveillance equipment and alarm systems. This role will provide supervision for on-shift ISFSI Specialist I personnel and ensure the ISFSI is properly staffed.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives
Assess alarms, investigate, and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances
Identify safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement
Report degradation, deficiencies, and accidents in accordance with current procedures and take appropriate corrective actions as directed by Security force Supervision
Control access of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area and maintain appropriate log
Perform all site and fire watch patrols and maintain appropriate logs
Perform site maintenance as directed to include but not limited to snow removal, garbage removal, housekeeping, and landscaping duties
Perform compensatory postings and escort duties as directed by Security Force Supervision and in accordance with current procedures and directives
Perform surveillance tests and inspections and test alarm and maintain appropriate logs
Work varying shifts to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
Respond to contingency events in accordance with appropriate procedures and as directed by Security Force Supervision
Participate in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed
Maintain periodic qualification of academic requirements including (Radiation protection, Access authorization, Emergency plan, etc.)
Maintain periodic qualification of armed response, physical fitness, and weapon requirements
Adhere to regulatory fatigue orders and work hours tracking requirements
Ensure house-keeping expectations are met
Maintain all required qualifications for site access
Write required reports, procedures, and keep records per procedure or as directed
Operate or supervise the operation of ISFSI equipment and controls important to safety including ISFSI storage casks, Transfer Cask Basket, and handling activities
Determine ISFIS reportability and operability
Supervise Security Officers (ISFSI Specialist I)
coach, develop, mentor team members
Ensure the ISFSI is properly staffed
Perform 10CFR 50.59 and 72.48 screens as directed
Operate the ISFSI Site Diesel Generator
Perform duties of Emergency Director for Emergency Plan Implementation per Emergency Plan Procedure
Maintain electrical power to all vital ISFSI Site loads
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
Post hire, be able to successfully complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position
Minimum of four (4) years of nuclear/ISFSI security experience
Be at least 21 years old or minimum age required by your State
Be able to work varying shifts to cover a twenty-four hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
Be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors and surveillance equipment.
