As an NTTE – Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and delivering the core transmission network at country level, ensuring it meets both local market demands and global network requirements. The role focuses on optical network technologies (mainly fibre and DWDM), aligning global guidelines with local needs, optimizing costs, and ensuring high-quality, resilient connectivity for both retail and enterprise/wholesale services.
Job Responsibility
Designing, planning, and delivering the core transmission network at country level
Adapting and implementing Group CoE and Network Evolution guidelines for DWDM and fiber networks
Planning and managing core transmission network capacity and investments
Leading vendor and partner management across the full lifecycle
Designing and delivering core transmission solutions (fiber, DWDM, SDH where applicable) to support enterprise and wholesale connectivity needs
Ensuring quality, resilience, and robustness of network solutions
Managing local execution and operations
Requirements
Deep understanding of optical network protocols like GMPLS, ASON and SNCP
Experience with DWDM network architectures (i.e. FOADM/ROADM/PON/fixed and flex grid), signal flow and capabilities (C/CD/CDC)
Experience and expertise in high-speed optical transmission, DWDM system design, architecture, and testing, experience in high capacity, high-channel-count, DWDM optical transmission systems
Familiarity with optical simulation and dimensioning tools
Knowledge of Nokia and Huawei optical products
Understanding of interdependencies, restrictions and priorities in the deployment of optical transmission networks
Engineering degree or similar
Deep technical know-how in transmission area, especially in optical networks, DWDM technology, etc.
Experience in optical networks design
Working in multi-national, multi-cultural teams
Fluent English
