Job Responsibility

  • Define and execute the NPD roadmap aligned with business strategy and market trends
  • Lead design and development of new castor and wheel products (industrial, institutional, medical, heavy-duty, specialty)
  • Drive material innovation-exploring polymers, elastomers, metals, and composites for improved performance, durability, and cost efficiency
  • Develop prototypes, conduct feasibility studies, and manage design iterations
  • Ensure designs meet load capacity, ergonomics, noise reduction, and application-specific requirements
  • Establish design standards, testing protocols, and engineering best practices
  • Oversee CAD/CAM design, FEA/simulation, and physical testing programs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and smooth production transfer
  • Build and maintain a technical knowledge base, patents portfolio, and design library
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop R&D engineers and technicians
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and technical curiosity
  • Set performance goals and conduct capability assessments
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to translate customer needs and feedback into product requirements
  • Work with Quality to establish testing standards and resolve field issues
  • Coordinate with Procurement on material sourcing and vendor development for new components
  • Support Operations during pilot runs and scale-up
  • Ensure products meet relevant Indian and international standards (BIS, ISO, EN, ANSI/BIFMA as applicable)
  • Maintain comprehensive design documentation, test reports, and regulatory files
