Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Non Profit Senior Accountant to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a contract position that requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. The ideal candidate will excel in month-end activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting while working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and manage month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to support accurate financial reporting
  • Create and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with accounting standards
  • Conduct account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, to ensure proper alignment of records
  • Oversee grant accounting processes, ensuring funds are allocated and tracked appropriately
  • Utilize Financial Edge software to manage accounting tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze financial data and provide insights for decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and organizational policies
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
  • Support audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role
  • Proficiency in month-end close procedures and general ledger management
  • Strong knowledge of journal entry preparation and account reconciliations
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and grant accounting practices
  • Familiarity with Financial Edge or similar accounting software
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and the budget process
  • In-depth experience with month end, quarter end closing process and workbook preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Prepare financial statements, monthly balance sheet, P &L and income statement analyses for management reporting in accordance with the requirements of US GAAP standards and report in a useful and understandable manner to stakeholders
  • Journal entries, with minimum supervision, reconciliation of sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, maintain and reconcile fixed assets schedules
  • Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
  • Assist with agency budget preparation and monthly budget variance analyses, including preparation and monitoring of federal Child & Adult Care Food Program budget and state subsidized childcare contract budgets
