Job Description

Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for a non-profit Controller to support a contract to hire role in Columbus, Ohio. Role will be responsible for day to day accounting for a non-profit healthcare provider. Primary responsibilities include: journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation. Ideal candidates will also have experience overseeing medical billing. This is a 100% onsite, contract to hire position. Contract period is expected to last 3-6 months.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and review financial statements for management and board reporting, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash management, payroll, and journal entry reviews
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes to support organizational planning and decision-making
  • Supervise a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes
  • Manage internal controls and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
  • Oversee grant and fund accounting, ensuring alignment with nonprofit and healthcare financial standards
  • Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process
  • Utilize financial systems and tools, including fund accounting software, to maintain accurate records and generate insights
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategies with organizational objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in nonprofit or healthcare accounting, including Medicaid billing and fund accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team effectively
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Familiarity with audit preparation and internal control processes
