Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for a non-profit Controller to support a contract to hire role in Columbus, Ohio. Role will be responsible for day to day accounting for a non-profit healthcare provider. Primary responsibilities include: journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation. Ideal candidates will also have experience overseeing medical billing. This is a 100% onsite, contract to hire position. Contract period is expected to last 3-6 months.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review financial statements for management and board reporting, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash management, payroll, and journal entry reviews
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes to support organizational planning and decision-making
Supervise a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes
Manage internal controls and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
Oversee grant and fund accounting, ensuring alignment with nonprofit and healthcare financial standards
Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process
Utilize financial systems and tools, including fund accounting software, to maintain accurate records and generate insights
Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategies with organizational objectives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
Proficiency in nonprofit or healthcare accounting, including Medicaid billing and fund accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial statement preparation and reporting
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team effectively
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Familiarity with audit preparation and internal control processes
