Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate, thorough, and dedicated Non-Profit Attorney Hybrid for a growing nonprofit organization based in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social justice and the law, combined with a meticulous approach to their work.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to our nonprofit organization, staff, and board of directors
  • Develop, implement and maintain legal compliance measures to ensure the organization follows all relevant laws and regulations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Perform legal research to assist the organization in decision-making processes
  • Litigate or mediate disputes and legal matters related to the organization while ensuring the protection of the organization's best interests by minimizing risks
  • Participate in fundraising efforts, grant writing and networking events
  • Collaborate with other departments in strategic planning, project management, and program development
  • Provide training to the organization's staff on compliance with laws, legal principles and practices

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in a law firm or as an in-house legal counsel, preferably within a nonprofit setting
  • Exceptional research, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents and contracts
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of nonprofit law, including corporate governance, tax-exemption, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a team
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make informed decisions
  • A strong personal commitment to the mission and values of our organization
