Requirements

First level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RSCN or HV) with related CAMHS experience
Non-medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration
Professional registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
Experience working as an independent non-medical prescriber with an adult ADHD service and ability to demonstrate continuing professional development in this area
Experience of clinical leadership and providing clinical support for practitioners across disciplines including recruitment, supervision, and appraisal
Experience of adult mental health assessment and ADHD assessments
Experience of consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff
Significant experience working as an independent non-medical prescriber with a community mental health service and ability to demonstrate continuing professional development in this area
Experience of using QI methodology
Highly specialist knowledge of mental health disorders including emotional and behavioural disorders, relationship difficulties, and attachment disorders and theories of child development

Job Responsibility

Provide clinical care and management for patients with ADHD and co-occurring neurodiverse/mental health difficulties
Prescribe medication and manage treatment plans
Lead and support the ADHD service team
Ensure high standards of patient care and safety
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders
Participate in continuous professional development and training
Clinically, the post holder will work as an ADHD nurse prescriber and manage a highly specialist service for adults with ADHD and co-occurring neurodiverse/mental health difficulties, contributing to specialist assessment & management and leading on coordinating the ADHD medication review clinics
Ensure access and flow are prioritized while maintaining own caseload
Manage a caseload, providing the analysis of complex information to determine the planning and management of assessment and treatment to adults with ADHD and co-occurring neurodiverse/mental health difficulties
Liaise with medical colleagues, partner agencies, and adult mental health professionals across a range of settings

Registered Nurses: First-level registered Mental Health nurse (RMN) or First-level registered nurse (Adult Nurse/Children’s Nurse/Learning Disabilities Nurse) (with one year post qualification Secondary Mental Health service experience or further Mental Health qualification)
Must have Independent & Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) qualification with 1-year post-prescribing qualification experience

Job Responsibility

Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing for adult ADHD patients in line with NICE guidelines, Psychiatry UK clinical policies, and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Prescribing Framework
Manage a defined caseload of patients during the titration and ongoing treatment phases, ensuring timely review of treatment effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
Communicate with patients through Psychiatry UK’s secure portal, offering clear, supportive, and clinically appropriate responses to medication-related queries
Complete End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs) and conduct annual medication reviews in a timely and thorough manner, ensuring continuity and quality of care
Exercise independent or supplementary prescribing rights within scope of practice, recognising limitations and seeking clinical advice when necessary
Collaborate closely with Consultant Psychiatrists and the wider ADHD service team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care
Undertake regular risk assessments and review safeguarding concerns, escalating appropriately in line with organisational policy
Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential clinical records using Psychiatry UK’s digital systems in accordance with professional and legal standards
Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, and the review of prescribing practices to support clinical governance and service development
Engage in regular clinical supervision and team learning to maintain high standards of clinical decision-making
