Job Description:

Would you like to work in an established Via service, and help people to achieve sustained recovery? Do you want to be at the forefront of an organisation committed to tackling health inequalities and empowering its workforce to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives? The Role: We are looking for qualified a (NMP) Non-Medical Prescribers with a keen interest in supporting people who are experiencing problematic alcohol or drug use, to join one of our integrated substance misuse services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Initiate prescribing for people seeking opiate substitution therapy and/or alcohol treatment/recovery
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Conduct regular clinical reviews in line with evidence based best practice guidelines
  • Oversee clinical harm reduction programmes (e.g. take-home naloxone), treatment clinics (e.g. Buprenorphine), yearly immunizations programme
  • Be an advocate for the IP workforce by promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous growth through learning

Requirements:

  • Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)
  • Keen interest in supporting people experiencing problematic alcohol or drug use
  • Advanced clinical assessment and prescribing knowledge and skills
  • Clinical judgement and experience to assess suitability for non-pharmacological and evidence based psychosocial interventions

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in addiction services
  • Experience from another healthcare sector (e.g. primary, emergency/urgent care)

  • Manage a defined caseload of patients during the titration and ongoing treatment phases, ensuring timely review of treatment effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
  • Communicate with patients through Psychiatry UK’s secure portal, offering clear, supportive, and clinically appropriate responses to medication-related queries
  • Complete End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs) and conduct annual medication reviews in a timely and thorough manner, ensuring continuity and quality of care
  • Exercise independent or supplementary prescribing rights within scope of practice, recognising limitations and seeking clinical advice when necessary
  • Collaborate closely with Consultant Psychiatrists and the wider ADHD service team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care
  • Undertake regular risk assessments and review safeguarding concerns, escalating appropriately in line with organisational policy
