The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA), based at Ayers Rock Resort, is searching for a Residential Operations Manager to live and work onsite at Yulara, NT which is 20 min drive from Uluru, one of Australia's most iconic and culturally significant landmarks. The NITA residential program supports up to 80 trainees in dormitory-style accommodation whist they complete their traineeship at Ayers Rock Resort. As Residential Operations Manager you will ensure that the residential environment is safe, predictable, calm, culturally respectful and aligned with workplace expectations. The Residential Operations Manager requires visible on-site leadership and is the primary operational interface between NITA Residential and hotel operations. We want trainees to graduate with more than their qualification – we want to develop life skills and provide opportunities for trainees to become strong in their culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design, deliver and continuously improve the NITA Residential Program to support trainee wellbeing, stability, work readiness, and successful participation in training and employment
  • Lead, supervise and develop Wellbeing Support Workers to deliver consistent trauma-informed and culturally safe residential support
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships to act as a key point of coordination across NITA, hotel operations, People & Culture, and external service providers
  • Ensure the residential environment is safe, predictable, calm, culturally respectful and aligned with workplace expectations
  • Provide visible on-site leadership and act as the primary operational interface between NITA Residential and hotel operations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years practice experience in relevant role
  • Demonstrated cultural authority, community credibility or experience working within Aboriginal kinship, community or organisational structures
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work or related field OR relevant Diploma qualification
  • Equivalent lived experience and demonstrated capability will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
  • Passionate about supporting young adults in achieving their goals
  • Understand the unique and diverse strengths and challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, with a willingness and capacity to listen and learn
