Night Support Worker role providing care for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, ensuring their needs are met through person-centred care, monitoring, and record-keeping during night shifts.
Job Responsibility:
Look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of service users using a person centred approach
Provide personal care, assist clients at meal times and all aspects of daily living
Provide person centred care in the form of social activities which promotes mental health and wellbeing
Act as key worker to specific individuals ensuring information about their health and wellbeing is recorded and communicated
Ensure monitoring and hourly checks with detailed recording on daily record sheets are carried out
Raise concerns with a manager immediately if something goes wrong or unsafe practice is witnessed (Duty of Candour)
Perform light food preparation
Requirements:
Ability to converse at ease with residents with cognitive impairment and provide advice in accurate spoken English
Patience and empathy with an understanding of the needs of people with different types of learning disabilities
Experience in a caring role as a formal paid or unpaid carer
Ability to deal with emergencies in a confident manner
Flexible and adaptable being able to use own initiative and make decisions
Understanding of the importance of client confidentiality and data protection
Must demonstrate Right to Work in the UK
Must explain any gaps in career history within the last 5 years
Must successfully complete mandatory training within probationary period
Must undertake learning to complete the Care Certificate
