Job Description:

Under the guidance of the Head Concierge and Concierge Supervisors, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at Sofitel London St James. The position involves supporting all aspects of the bell service, including the efficient handling of guest luggage, assisting with guest requests, running errands, and ensuring the prompt and secure delivery of parcels and messages. As a valued member of the Concierge team, the Luggage Porter contributes to creating a seamless, welcoming, and memorable stay for every guest through professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to outstanding service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Greets all guests at the Front Door politely and courteously and guides them towards the reception desk or function rooms
  • Assists guests with their luggage for both check-ins and check-outs
  • Carries guests' luggage to the room upon check-in and check-out
  • Follows the current Rooming Procedure, including briefing guest on usage of light switches, TV, radio, internet, mini bar and telephone facilities in the room
  • Ensures that all guest property is safely handled and/or stored in the Luggage Room
  • Complies with standards of grooming and personal hygiene
  • Cleans ashtrays and lobby area neat and orderly
  • Participates in group luggage handling, distribution and collection
  • Replaces Doorman at the door, whenever necessary
  • Delivers newspapers, parcels and messages promptly and within the standards
  • Escorts guests attending functions to function area
  • Engages in moving luggage from one room to another in the case of a room move as per procedure
  • Updates Arrival / Departure Traffic Sheets accurately and the Long-Term Storage book
  • Attends to guest needs and queries and refers complaints to supervisor
  • Points out stationery needs to Head Concierge or delegate
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Handles vehicle parking for guests as per procedure
  • Organises and delivers newspapers for all hotel's guests
  • Performs shoe shine for guests as per procedure
  • Assists the Night Manager in special tasks i.e. setting up beds and hotel lobby security
  • Clean and tidy the Concierge Desk and the Luggage Room
  • Assist the Concierge in ensuring that guests are charged for valet parking and that the moneys are kept safe as per department standards
  • Promote the hotel outlets and facilities first and foremost at all times

Requirements:

  • You must hold a valid driving licence
  • be entitled to work in the UK as this position is not eligible for sponsorship
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel or hospitality environment preferred
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, courteous manner
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts with minimal supervision
  • Physically fit and capable of safely handling guest luggage and standing for extended periods
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards
  • Basic IT skills and familiarity with hotel systems (preferred but not essential)
