Job Description:

Pelham House is looking for a friendly and professional night host/porter to join our team at the wonderful exclusive use Wedding & Events Venue in the Town centre of Lewes. Overseeing the safety and security of whole premises overnight including 29 Bedrooms, we are looking for a candidate to contribute to a welcoming environment. This role offers individuals an opportunity to work for an exciting wedding and Events company in an amazing setting. Please note this work is seasonal so additional working hours would be expected during busier periods with time taken back during quieter periods.

Job Responsibility:

  • Security: Conducting regular, methodical security walks of the premises, ensuring doors are locked, and monitoring CCTV systems
  • Monitor the entry and exit of people and vehicles. Ensure the safety and security of the premises by identifying and addressing any issues with noise
  • Guest Service: Providing a welcoming presence for guests, managing front reception areas, ensuring guests are respectful to our neighbours with noise. Late check ins, and any additional ad- hoc requests
  • Maintenance & Cleanliness: Tidying public areas (lobby, bar) and completing cleaning checklists to ensure the venue is presentable for morning staff
  • Emergency Response: Acting as the primary responder for fire alarms, maintenance faults, or medical incidents, and knowing evacuation procedures
  • Operational Support: Preparing for the next day by setting up breakfast/ wedding tables, processing night audits, polishing cutlery/ crockery and general table set up

Requirements:

  • Vigilance & Reliability: High level of trust, dependability, and attention to detail for solo working, this is a night shift
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to walk, stand, and some light lifting during night hours
  • Communication: Professional demeanor when communicating with guests and other team members, either in person, via phone, or by the front gate
  • Versatility: Capable of multitasking between guest requests and security checks, must be comfortable working alone
