Job Description

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a premium care provider to recruit a Night Clinical Manager (RGN) for a large and well-regarded nursing home in Buxton. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse leader looking to step into a visible night management role within a clinically complex elderly care environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Home Manager to provide strong overnight leadership, maintain high clinical standards, and help support the wider culture and development of the home. The service is a circa 70+ bed care home providing a mix of residential care, residential dementia care, nursing dementia care, end-of-life care, and advanced nursing care. The home is fully occupied and supports residents with a range of complex clinical needs including tracheostomy care, PEG care, stoma care, and palliative care. This role will suit a confident, hands-on and clinically credible nurse who is comfortable leading from the floor, supporting night teams, and helping to drive a positive culture within the home. Personality and leadership presence are just as important as clinical capability for this appointment.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide visible clinical leadership across the home during night shifts
  • Support the Home Manager in the overnight clinical and operational running of the service
  • Oversee resident care delivery across a range of nursing, dementia and end-of-life needs
  • Maintain high clinical standards and ensure safe, effective care is delivered at all times
  • Support with medication oversight, care planning, risk management and clinical documentation
  • Monitor changes in resident condition and respond appropriately to clinical concerns
  • Lead, guide and support the night team, helping to embed a positive and collaborative culture
  • Build strong working relationships with long-standing staff and support new starters within the team
  • Assist with audits, standards monitoring and general night-time oversight of the service
  • Ensure the home remains compliant with best practice and regulatory expectations
  • Contribute to team development, coaching and clinical confidence across the night team

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN considered subject to relevant elderly care experience) with an active NMC PIN
  • Strong clinical background within elderly nursing homes, dementia care, or complex care settings
  • Experience in a Senior Nurse, Clinical Lead, Night Manager or Deputy level role would be advantageous
  • Confident overseeing residents with complex needs including PEG, stoma, tracheostomy and end-of-life care
  • Able to lead teams effectively and build credibility with established staff
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Personable, resilient and proactive approach
  • Comfortable working in a visible, hands-on capacity rather than purely office-based
  • Full understanding of the demands of night leadership within a care home setting

What we offer

  • Competitive hourly rate of £25.75 per hour
  • Opportunity to join a premium and well-established care provider
  • Work within a fully occupied service with strong senior support
  • Chance to play a key role in the continued development and culture of the home
  • Leadership opportunity within a clinically complex service
  • Supportive Home Manager who is nurse-qualified
  • Long-term progression opportunities within a reputable care group
