Job Description

Dovehaven Care Homes are recruiting for a Care Assistant to join our team at Avonleigh Gardens on Clyde Street in Oldham, Working NIGHTS - 8pm - 8am on a rota basis with alternate weekend availability required. 33hr contract available. Avonleigh Gardens is a residential home catering for up to 59 residents, our aim is to ensure all our residents feel as comfortable & happy as possible. Our homes promote independence, dignity and respect through positive risk taking and empowerment.

Job Responsibility

  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy and a person-centred approach to caring for older people
  • Self-motivated, resilient and well-organised
  • Able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the residents and the Home
  • Provide assistance, personal care, activities and companionship to residents
  • Be alert to residents’ needs, health and wellbeing
  • Respect the residents’ dignity and privacy
  • Work with residents and their families to deliver tailored care to each individual
  • Assist with mealtimes and safe moving
  • Maintain accurate records for each resident

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Committed to providing a high standard of care, promoting dignity and respect
  • Previous experience working within an elderly care setting
  • Team player but able to work on your own initiative
  • Dependable, able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the Home
  • Previous supervisory experience within a care/nursing home setting and experience of working with the elderly
  • A minimum of a NVQ level 2 in health & social care along with a dedicated passion for providing exceptional care
  • Female only applicants (genuine occupational requirement)
  • Alternate weekend availability required
